When asked what has set Sawyer Brown apart in the music business to account for four decades of success, lead singer and front man Mark Miller answers, “One of the unique things about the band is we don’t really have a lot of love songs. We have life songs.”

Years before The Voice and American Idol, there was Star Search with Ed McMahon. In the first season, an eclectic and charismatic country-rock band appeared on the show, taking America by storm. After being told too many times in Nashville showcases, Sawyer Brown won over millions of fans with their electrifying TV performances week after week. In Hollywood, capturing hearts of all ages, their sound was compared to country super-groups like Alabama and The Oak Ridge Boys. But, by look and vibe, more like The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith. From ignored underdogs in Music City to overnight rock stars from LA to New York, they simply went from competition and onto career.

Riding on the wave of success and popularity, the band signed with Capitol/Curb and—half of the road with Don and Pop icon Kenny Rogers, opening his shows in arenas across the U.S. All while learning from the best. Then from big venues to their own quickly-growing fanbase, the band charged ahead with hits of their own, from “Betty’s Bein’ Bad” to “The Walk,” from “Some Girls Do” to “Thank God for You.” From small towns to their own terms, the band has remained driven and committed to the entertainment industry.

Since 1984, the band’s high-energy reputation, loyal following, and long list of hits has kept them moving. Relentless drive to stay true to themselves never wavered. For the past forty years, the boys never stopped delivering a show that people remember. For Sawyer Brown, it’s always about the fans. Sawyer Brown just keeps on delivering again and again. While their colorful, grass-roots message through music never wavered, their show says it all. “They were searching for stars when we came along,” says lead singer Mark Miller. “If we give them everything that we can, this is the life and times of a rock ‘n roll in a country song. There were never enough.”
